Conveyors & material handling
Slat conveyor manufacturer in Mumbai for assembly, packing and heavy-duty lines
Industrisol is a slat conveyor manufacturer and supplier for plants in Mumbai and across India. Our slat chain conveyors give a rigid, stable carrying surface for assembly work, heavy parts, bottles and hot product where a belt would not last.
- Stainless steel, mild steel and engineered plastic slats
- Continuous or indexing motion with VFD speed control
- Fixture-ready surfaces for manual and robotic assembly
- MS and SS frames, galvanised or coated
How a slat conveyor works
A slat conveyor carries product on slats or aprons fixed to twin strands of drive chain. An electric motor and gearbox drive the chain, and the slats loop round just as a belt would. Slats are made of engineered plastic, galvanised carbon steel or stainless steel, chosen for the load, temperature and cleaning regime.
Because each slat is rigid, the surface stays flat under heavy, sharp or hot loads, and fixtures can be bolted directly to it. That is why slat conveyors are found in automotive and appliance assembly, bottling and packing halls, ovens and cooling lines, and anywhere a belt would cut, stretch or burn. As a slat conveyor manufacturer working across Mumbai and India, we match slat material, pitch and chain to your duty.

Metal slat chain conveyor for assembly
Steel panels fixed to the chain with special attachments create a stable work surface. Parts are assembled on fixtures at an ergonomic height as the line moves or indexes.

Benefits of slat conveyors on assembly lines
Stable working surface
Assemble on a moving line or at each station while the line is stopped, before it indexes to the next position.
Holds parts in place
Products that must stay put while moving ride securely on fixtures mounted to the slats.
Robot friendly
Fixtures arrive at a repeatable position, so robots and operators can share a guarded line.
Continuous or indexing
Run steadily, or stop and start under sensor control to bring each product to the station.
Easy speed change
With a VFD fitted, line speed is simple to adjust for new products or staffing levels.
Top access
Best where work is done from above. If both sides need access, an overhead conveyor with a swivel fixture may suit better.
Design points before you order
Keep fixtures reasonably low. They return upside down under the conveyor, so the frame needs clearance to the floor for the tooling on the return path. Agree the slat pitch with the smallest product footprint in mind, and allow for transfer plates where product moves on or off the line. For hot zones, specify the maximum product temperature so we can choose steel slats and suitable chain lubrication.

What is the difference between a slat conveyor and a belt conveyor?
A belt conveyor uses a flexible fabric or PU belt, ideal for light items and smooth transport. A slat conveyor uses rigid slats on chain, so it carries heavier, sharper or hotter loads and accepts fixtures bolted to the surface. Slat conveyors cost more but last longer in tough duty.
Which slat material should I choose?
Stainless steel slats suit food, pharma, wash-down and hot product. Galvanised or painted mild steel slats are economical for heavy dry assembly work. Engineered plastic slats are lighter, quieter and suit bottles, packs and food lines at normal temperatures. We recommend a material once we know your load and environment.
Can a slat conveyor index from station to station?
Yes. With a sensor and a drive control, the conveyor moves one pitch, stops for the work to be done, then moves again. This is common in assembly and robotic loading. A VFD makes it easy to tune the speed and soft-start the line to protect the product.
How do I maintain a slat chain conveyor?
Check chain tension and lubrication regularly, clean debris from sprockets and the return path, and inspect slats for damage or loose fixings. Replacing a worn slat or chain section early prevents damage to sprockets. We can quote replacement slats and chain to match your conveyor.
