What a servo system is
A servo system is a closed loop made of a servo motor, a servo drive (amplifier) and a feedback device, usually an encoder fitted to the motor. The drive compares the commanded position, speed or torque with the encoder feedback and corrects the error many thousands of times a second. The result is fast, accurate motion that holds position under load.
Servo motors differ from standard AC motors in their low rotor inertia, high peak torque and built-in feedback. They are controlled by pulse-and-direction signals, analogue commands or a motion network from a motion controller or PLC.
As servo motor suppliers in India, we supply the motor, drive and cables as a matched set so the system works first time.
Servo brands and ranges we supply
Panasonic servo motors and drives
Panasonic AC servo ranges, including the A5 family, for compact high-response machine axes.
Yaskawa servo motors
Yaskawa AC servo motors and amplifiers for packaging, electronics and machine tool applications.
Delta AC servo motors
Delta servo motors from 400 W to 1 kW and above for general machine automation.
Servo gearboxes
Planetary, zero-backlash and Shimpo VRSF reducers to match servo speed to the load.
Stepper motors and drives
A lower-cost open-loop alternative for light positioning duties.
Servo and feedback cables
Power and encoder cables matched to the motor and drive.
Servo motor selection specifications
| Specification | What to check |
|---|---|
| Rated and peak torque | Rated torque covers continuous load; peak covers acceleration |
| Rated and maximum speed | Motor speed at the required axis speed, after any gearbox |
| Load inertia ratio | Load inertia reflected to the motor; keep within the drive's tuning range |
| Supply voltage | Single-phase or three-phase 200 V class, or 400 V class |
| Encoder type and resolution | Incremental or absolute; absolute avoids homing after power loss |
| Command interface | Pulse train, analogue, or network such as EtherCAT |
| Brake and shaft | Holding brake for vertical axes; keyed or plain shaft, flange size |

How an enquiry works
Send your requirement
Share the servo motor details, quantity and site location through the quote form, phone or email. A nameplate photo or existing part number speeds things up.
Technical review
We check the ratings and application against available models and come back with questions if anything is unclear or missing.
Options and quotation
You receive suitable options, including equivalents where an exact match is not available, with a written quotation.
Supply and support
After the order we coordinate dispatch to your site in Mumbai or anywhere in India and remain available for spares and follow-up questions.
What is the difference between a servo motor and a stepper motor?
A servo motor runs in closed loop with encoder feedback, so it corrects errors, delivers high speed and peak torque, and does not lose position under load. A stepper motor usually runs open loop, costs less and holds well at low speed, but can miss steps if overloaded. Servos suit fast, dynamic axes; steppers suit light, slow positioning.
How do I size a servo motor?
Work out the load torque, the acceleration torque from load inertia and the required speed profile, then pick a motor whose rated torque covers the RMS torque over the cycle and whose peak torque covers acceleration. Also check the load-to-motor inertia ratio. A gearbox can reduce reflected inertia and the torque needed from the motor.
Can I mix a servo motor and drive from different brands?
Generally no. Servo drives are matched to their own motors' encoders, parameters and connectors, and mixing brands rarely works without special support. Buy the motor, drive and cables as a set from the same range, which is how we quote them. Mixing brands also complicates tuning, diagnostics and future spares support.
Absolute or incremental encoder on a servo motor?
An absolute encoder remembers position when power is removed, so the axis does not need to home after start-up. An incremental encoder is simpler and lower cost but requires homing. Absolute encoders are preferred on multi-axis machines and where homing is slow or unsafe. Absolute encoders may need a battery or a battery-less multiturn design, depending on the range.
Do you supply servo cables and gearboxes too?
Yes. We quote the power cable, encoder cable and, where needed, a planetary or zero-backlash gearbox along with the motor and drive. Tell us the cable length and mounting so everything arrives as a matched set. Matching the cables to the motor and drive avoids connector and pinout mismatches during commissioning.
Can you replace an older servo model that is discontinued?
Often yes. Send the motor and drive nameplates and how the axis is controlled. We suggest the current equivalent from the same range or a compatible alternative, and point out changes in mounting, connectors or parameters to plan for. Where possible we also suggest the matching cables so the replacement can be wired without modification.
Specifying a servo axis?
Send your load, speed and controller details and we will propose a matched servo motor, drive and cable set.
